Background & Rationale: In April DESE informed us for the first time that we had to participate as a district or not at all. We gave all of the MMD information to all of the buildings and asked them to take a close look at participation. The buildings not currently participating decided this is not an initiative they wish to take on. We are not willing to make this a mandate for a couple reasons. First, we want to focus on the initiatives we already have in place. Second, we have seen limited benefit from our participation and feel we can reap benefits even without our participation. We have also been disappointed in their changes in funding requirements which we feel will only be more restrictive and onerous as we move forward. In short, the cost/benefit analysis does not favor sticking with the program and expanding it to the entire district. We still want buildings to use the Virtual Platform and will make that a part of our PD plan moving forward.
