We developed a partnership with Smile It's Healthy through Health Services to provide dental exams to our elementary students. Over the past few years we noticed through the screenings with Score 1 and Cerner Healthe Kids that our student were not being serviced by dental or vision at home. We send the information gathered through the screening out to the parents but the same students would return with the same health concerns each year and sometimes with a worsen condition, one cavity became three. Smile It's Healthy is new to the area and we have been pleased with the program thus far. The students serviced with this program will have two dental exams at their building sites. The initial screening was this fall with a follow up screening in scheduled for second semester. Out student will see a dentist two times per year.
Through collaboration with Score 1 we also have a partnership with OneSightVision. The vision mobile truck is only in the Kansas City area one time per year and we were granted 60 slots to service out students. This was an amazing experience. We knew through the initial screenings with Score 1 and Cerner Healthe Kids we had students that were struggling in the classroom due to vision concerns. Once we received noticed that were going to have the opportunity to serve our students, we selected the highest need students first. This did not service all of our students so therefore we needed to find another resource. Advanced Eye Care has agreed to partner with the school district to support the next level of high vision need students.
