Background & Rationale:
|
The district currently has a primary firewall through Fortinet (FortiGate appliance) and a back-up firewall through Juniper Networks. The back-up firewall is at the end of support and must be retired. The district will need to purchase a new back-up firewall as it is essential for network security. A request for bid was released and CDWG returned the only bid. The district verified pricing with the manufacturer and public purchasing sources to ensure that this bid was fair pricing. In this bid, the district opted to extend the maintenance of the current firewall so that both devices would be renewed at the same time. The district selected the option for 3 years of maintenance for both firewalls, bringing the total cost of purchase and maintenance to $67,200. Pre-paying for 3 years of maintenance will provides a significant discount totaling over 1 year of free maintenance.
